El Molino is a unique rural hotel located near the town of Tapalpa in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. It has been designed to have minimal impact on the surrounding natural environment and to preserve the beauty of the site.
One of the most interesting features of El Molino is its low-density design. The hotel consists of just a few structures: a terrace, a guard house, a guest house, and 18 rammed earth cabins. These cabins have been constructed with minimal environmental impact and blend seamlessly into the natural landscape.
The use of adobe in the design of the hotel is also noteworthy. Adobe is a traditional building material made from earth and straw that has been used for centuries in Mexico. The adobe ruin on the property has been incorporated into the design of the guest house and adds a unique character to the hotel.
El Molino's low-impact design extends beyond the buildings themselves. The hotel has been designed to operate with minimal impact on the environment, including the use of solar power for hot water and lighting, composting toilets, and a greywater filtration system.
El Molino offers a unique and sustainable approach to hospitality.
